First Annual Jeep Round-Up & Steel Horse Poker Run
Royal Straight Flush – $10,000 GRAND PRIZE
The Jeep Round-Up & Steel Horse Poker Run is a day of fun for the whole family and a great way to kick off the Labor Day Weekend in the “City of Firsts”. The event is hosted by UAW Local 685 and Kokomo Firefighter’s IAFF Local 396, in conjunction with the Fire Fighter Cancer Foundation and the First Responder Face-Off Foundation.
1 in 3 Firefighters will be diagnosed with some form of Cancer during their careers and lifetimes. 70% of Line of Duty Deaths in the fire service are Cancer related. The purpose of this event is to spotlight the perils of our First Responders and ways that can reduce toxic exposures to Firefighters.
Our goal is to raise $12,500 with the introduction of the Indiana Hoods Initiative to provide Particulate Blocking Hoods to the Kokomo Firefighters.
Good friends, Harvey Hinklemeyer Pizza, nice prizes, and Jeeps, motorcycles, and more Jeeps! The run itself is approximately 100 miles and takes 3 1/2 – 4 hours to drive. The trail will take you to some communities you may not have visited before. Following the trail of knowledge will lead you to a scenic opportunity at the Grissom Air Base. At the end of the run, it’s Harvey Hinklemeyer Pizza and tailgating while you watch many willing participants take a shot in the Kokomo Fire Department Water Bucket Challenge. Attendees can choose to participate in the Show & Shine contest and finish off the day with a performance by the United States Blues Band.Partnership Opportunities Online Registration

The Day of the Run
Participants will check in at UAW Local 685 starting at 7 am on Saturday morning, receive a packet that will include rules, directions and other important information and depart from there. Departures will begin at 9:30 AM and the last vehicle or motorcycle must leave by 11:00 AM. The Poker Run route and schedule will be set up to allow a leisurely drive with no need to hurry. Enjoy the drive, enjoy the scenery, and enjoy the day visiting Indiana Fire Departments and interacting with First Responders. Ask questions at each stop and learn more about what this run means as we work to Extinguish First Responder Cancer. On-time departures will obviously have more time and a more leisurely drive/ride, but even the latest departure time of 11:00 AM will allow time to run the route at a leisurely pace without missing any checkpoints. The ride will occur rain or shine.
The directions sheet will include an opening and closing time for each checkpoint, and the expected driving time from one checkpoint to the next. Use this to determine how much extra time is available to stop for pictures, lunch, gas, etc. Plenty of time will be built into the schedule for these activities. The entire route can be driven straight through in about 3 to 3.5 hours. Even the latest departures, 11:00 AM, have been given 5 hours to complete the run, so take your time and have fun! At the final checkpoint, your last “card” must be earned by 4:00 PM and scorecards must be presented by 4:30 PM so we can be ready to start awarding prizes by about 5:00 or so.
Harvey Hinklemeyers Pizza will be served beginning at about 3:00pm at Local 685 at which time the Beer Garden and Vendor Booths will be open.
Show & Shine
Show & Shine participants will register their Jeeps and motorcycles on Saturday morning starting at 6 am at Local 685. Judging will take place from 4-5:30 pm with winners and trophy presentations on the main stage at 6:30pm.Show & Shine Categories
